Is linux the best for me?

Hello,

Im going to build a computer and I dont want to spend 130$ on windows. The computer will be for browsing, making power-points and writing and also gaming. Can i have apps such as google chrome or the microsoft installed or do i need to use it online and ive heard that games are not so good on linux(not to talk about the amount of games that steam doesn't sell on this software) is that true
